Sat May 16, 2009 | 06:00am

A medical team from Vandenberg Air Force Base arrived in Costa Rica today, part of a medically-oriented humanitarian aid mission in the small Latin American country. Along with three specialists from other Air Force units, medical personnel from Vandenberg’s 30th Medical Group will visit areas that do not currently have medical facilities. Working alongside Costa Rican medical professionals, the goal is to treat more that 4,000 patients while at the same time projecting a positive image of the United States and its military forces. The team will return to California in approximately two weeks.
