Several sports require players to move a ball up and down a field, but none is as wild as polo. Horses galloping, turf flying, mallets clanking up and down the 300-yard field-it’s a sight to witness. And witness it you can, because each Sunday, the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club (3375 Foothill Rd., #1200, Carpinteria)-the third-oldest, continually operating polo club in the U.S.-is open to the public. In addition to watching the pros-both horses and riders-do their thing, attendees can sample vino as part of the club’s Sunday wine tastings. Games are at 1 and 3 p.m., and admission is $10 per person. For more information, call 684-6683 or visit sbpolo.com.
