Farmers Market Marks Los Olivos

While it’s long been easy to drink local in the Santa Ynez Valley, eating local has been a bit more complicated. The Los Olivos Business Organization (LOBO) has decided to fix that problem by starting the Los Olivos Farmers Market on Saturday mornings (8am-noon) beginning July 11. Theo Stephan of Global Gardens-who will be one of the merchants at the market-said the event “will be local, local,” while Sylvia Remmenga, a LOBO boardmember, claimed, “This market will complement the many other Los Olivos businesses and will exclusively feature items grown in the Valley. It will be smaller and more intimate than many markets, fitting the quaint character of Los Olivos.” The purveyors will include Roots Farm, Finley Farm, Marcie’s Pies, Clairmont Lavender Farm, and Fair Hill Farms.
