Rummage Sale

Benefit for Casa Serena Women's Recovery Home

Fri Jul 31, 2009 | 06:00am

In 1959, Mildred Pinheiro opened a home for women who wanted to kick their alcohol addiction. Fifty years later, Casa Serena still is a residential treatment home, having helped more than 6,000 women start on the road to recovery. While there, residents “engage in group and individual counseling sessions and are taught the tools of the recovery process.” Since its founding, Casa Serena has expanded to include stays for women with children. On Saturday, August 15, from 9 a.m.-noon, Casa Serena’s main house at 1515 Bath Street will hold a rummage sale fundraiser for its projects for women and children. For more info on the sale or Casa Serena and its programs, or to donate, contact Development Director Jessie Stone at 564-8701, or visit casaserena.org.
