MASON BE MASON: Mason Carrington Kettmann was in the womb for nearly as long as it took his daddy, The Indy‘s Senior Editor Matt Kettmann, to put together this week’s cover story about the return of the California condor.

Mason-whose middle name is a nod to the point on Santa Rosa Island where Matt proposed to his wife, Joanna, in 2006-was born healthy, happy, and entirely naturally at Cottage Hospital on Tuesday, December 29, at 8:46 a.m., after fewer than nine hours of labor, eight of which were done at their Valerio Street condo. “We couldn’t have been happier with the way he came into the world,” said Matt. “Now we just hope he’s as easy for the rest of his life!”
