Carpinteria State Beach Accepting Applications for New Docent Program; Hospice of S.B.'s "I Have a Friend" Program Needs Adult Volunteer Mentors

• Carpinteria State Beach now is accepting applications for its new docent program, which will educate the public on the area’s rich history, geology, marine life, and more. In order to become a docent, qualified applicants will be required to attend five training courses. Potential volunteers must submit their applications by February 27. Call 684-7487 or email cdragan@parks.ca.gov.

• Hospice of Santa Barbara is seeking new mentors for its I Have a Friend program, which matches adult mentor volunteers who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or child with a child or teen who recently has experienced a similar loss. Mentor volunteer training sessions begin March 2; applications are currently being accepted. Call 563-8820.
