INDY DOES PARIS: When Barry Taugher decided to take his wife, Nora, on a surprise escape to Paris earlier this year, he snagged a copy of The Independent because, as he put it, “All the newspapers there are in French.” As the vice president of software company Simpler Systems, it’s no wonder that Taugher—who’s also the father-in-law of Indy associate production manager Sarah Wilkinson—eagerly awaits the Kindle version of The Indy. He says he’s been reading since the News & Review days. “If this were Japan, Nick Welsh would be a National Living Treasure,” Taugher said of our resident Angry Poodle, adding, “We’re really fortunate to have a local weekly with such high-quality reporting.”
