INDY DOES INDY 500: When Blake and Sue Haralson moved to Goleta in September 2009 after Blake’s job was relocated here, the first advice they got was to pick up a copy of The Independent to see what was happening around town. “What great advice,” recalls Blake, who has passed on the same advice to similarly relocated friends. “It is the best way to get on top of events coming up each week, and we look forward to picking it up each Thursday to help plan our exploration of our new home town.” They enjoy the paper so much, it seems, that they even took it with them to the Indianapolis 500 this year. “It was our first time and another check off of my bucket list,” said Blake.
