FRONT-ROW PHOTOG: David Bazemore contributed the wonderful photographs for this week’s cover story on Center Stage Theater. Bazemore told The Indy, “The best thing about shooting there is that I’m on the same level as the action — there’s no raised stage. During a dress rehearsal, I can usually get quite close to actors or dancers, which gives a more intimate, visceral, and up-close perspective, and I can get angles that aren’t possible in other venues. I feel more connected to what I’m shooting, too. I also love the more ‘out there’ things that are presented at Center Stage. It may be just a black box, but I’ve taken some mighty fine journeys to other worlds there.”
