BAND AIDE: It goes without saying that this week’s cover story could not have come together without 2010 band intern (and self-proclaimed classic rock devotee) Alex Khatchadourian. Raised on a strict diet of glam rock (think Bowie and Queen), this 21-year-old Gaucho has an ear for good grooves and funky bass lines, and helped handpick bands like Gardens and Villa and Wetlands from the sea of local music we’ve catalogued in this issue. As for what’s next, Khatchadourian is all about pursuing her dream of music journalism — and catching a slew of killer shows. “October is a big month,” she enthuses. “I’m going to see Sleigh Bells, MIA, and Die Antwoord.”
