SNAP HAPPY: At the end of each year, we force our writers to back away from their keyboards so that Independent photographer Paul Wellman can recap the past 12 months in pictures. Though that means sifting through literally hundreds of photos to present just a few dozen, it’s an annual task that Wellman has become remarkably efficient at during nearly a decade as our resident shutterbug. “The hardest part is narrowing down all of the shots that we got over the year,” said Wellman, who celebrates his 10th year with the paper starting in April. “But the fun part is getting to rehash the stories we lived through.” So turn the pages for an eyeful of the people, places, and events that wound up on the right side of his lens in 2010.
