Third Installment of Financial Lecture Series

Thu Feb 17, 2011 | 12:00am

For UCSB’s Arts & Lectures’ third installment of its free financial lecture series Aftermath, influential international economist Dambisa Moyo will speak about her latest book, How the West Was Lost: Fifty Years of Economic Folly—And the Stark Choices Ahead. In the book, Moyo—who was born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia—examines the decline of Western economic dominance and how a shift in balance is tipping toward the emerging world, especially China.

A former investment banker at Goldman Sachs, Moyo was honored by the World Economic Forum as one of its 2009 Young Global Leaders and was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people that same year. The event takes place Sunday, February 20, at 3 p.m. at UCSB’s Campbell Hall. For more information, call 893-3535 or visit artsandlectures.sa.ucsb.edu.
