“Wild” summer employment is available at the Santa Barbara Zoo, including an award-winning program for job seekers as young as 14. Positions in Special Events, Zoo Camp and as performers the Zoo’s new summer show are also available. Interested parties are invited to attend the Santa Barbara Zoo’s free Job Fair, held Tuesday, March 15 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Zoo, 500 Niños Drive, Santa Barbara, just off Cabrillo Boulevard at East Beach.

Parking is free for participants, who should check-in at the front gate. No reservations or appointments are necessary.

The award-winning Guest Experience Specialist program will be outlined at the Job Fair, along with positions as counselors for the award-winning Zoo Camp and as hosts at the Zoo’s many special events. Volunteer opportunities for adults and teens will also be described. A number of the Zoo’s animal creatures will make appearances.

“Our Guest Experience Specialist program is intended to be a ‘first job’ for youth and a fun job for others,” points out the Zoo’s Director of Human Resources Corinne Santini. “Participants rotate between three departments, so it’s like having three jobs – one in guest service, one in a restaurant and one in a store.”

Participants are also introduced to work ethics and basic skills, such how to provide excellent customer service, write a resume or be in a job interview, needed when embarking into the business world. This program was recently presented with the first ever Youth Serving Organization Award from the Santa Barbara Region Chamber of Commerce’s Business Star Awards. For more information, visit www.sbzoo.org, or contact Corinne Santini at 962-5339 ext. 108 or csantini@sbzoo.org.
