Tsunami Advisory is Canceled Saturday Morning

Residents and visitors are advised to remain vigilant and cautious around the water

The National Weather Service has advised us, that with the agreement with the West Coast Warning Center, the Tsunami Advisory that has been in place since March 11 will be canceled as of 9am March 12.

Residents and visitors are advised to remain vigilant and cautious around the water. Even though underwater currents and riptides have diminished, they are still being registered on tidal gauges up and down the coast, though less frequently and less powerful than previously measured.

This will be the last advisory bulletin published on this event, unless changing events dictate renewing the Warning and/or Advisory notice. OES would like to thank all cooperating agencies, and especially the residents of Santa Barbara County, for their patient and attention during this emergency period.
