More than a thousand butterflies have descended on the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History (2559 Puesta del Sol) for Butterflies Alive!—the museum’s annual exhibit. Among plants, flowers, and wee waterfalls, the more than 30 species flit freely about in the netted enclosure. Santa Barbara natives include monarchs, painted ladies, and Western tiger swallowtail; out-of-towners, such as the black swallowtail, white peacock, and the sleepy orange, will be on hand, too. Walk through the pavilion, and feed the butterflies slices of watermelon and oranges. The exhibit runs through September 11.
