County Parks to Allow Stand Up Paddle Boards at Cachuma Lake

Wed Sep 07, 2011 | 02:49pm

This trial period comes on the heels of the successful launch of canoes and kayaks back in April of this year. The new uses at the lake were considered to be compatible with current lake activities and an opportunity to expand the recreational experience at Lake Cachuma.

The rules and regulations for Stand Up Paddle Boarding will be the same as for canoes and kayaks and can be found on the Cachuma Lake website at www.cachuma.com. Stand Up Paddle Boards must pass an inspection for Quagga Mussel and other aquatic nuisance species prior to launch. The fee for launching Stand Up Paddle Boards is $5. The Public is reminded that Cachuma Lake is still a non body contact lake and swimming from Boat, Shore, Kayak, Canoe, or Stand Up Paddle Board is still prohibited.
