Proclaiming July as Parks and Recreation Month

Summer is the perfect time for the Santa Barbara community to come and enjoy the counties wonderful parks.

Parks provide access to the serenity and the inspiration of nature and outdoor spaces to play andexercise and also preserve and protect the historic, natural and cultural resources in our community. The use of County Parks and Recreation facilities fosters human development, providing positive alternativesfor children and youth of all ages as they learn to participate in outdoor and other educational activities that are part of the foundation of productive and active citizenry.

Thousands of Santa Barbara County residents benefit from the wide range of services, facilities and programs including Nature Cruises, Junior Rangers and the Nature Center provided by Cachuma LakeRecreation Area. Join us at the Courthouse on Friday nights for the Summer Movie Series! Catch somerays at one of our seven beach locations. Stop by the Boathouse Restaurant or Beachside Café to grabbreakfast, lunch or dinner.

The Community Services Department urges all its residents to recognize that parks and recreationenriches the lives of its residents and visitors as well as adding value to the community’s homes and neighborhoods.
