Each year, as I stand outside the Earl Warren Showgrounds to protest the Fiesta Rodeo, I see how more and more of the public supports our stance against animal cruelty.
The City of Santa Barbara denies its involvement with this annual Fiesta Rodeo, and yet all of the ads tout “The Santa Barbara Fiesta Rodeo.” Why is our fair city supporting animal cruelty? Why do parents continue to bring their children to a venue which displays inhumane practices such as calf-roping and horses made to buck by use of constriction strap?
Please, everyone, do not attend the rodeo. Celebrate your Fiesta engaging in happy and cruelty-free events. Hopefully, someday soon, Santa Barbara will refuse to host this terrible and barbaric event.
