Food Culture

There are myriad reasons to boycott Chic-fil-A, though they have nothing to do with the owner’s Constitutional right to express his opinion on gay marriage – no matter how unenlightened it may be. It’s called, pardon my French—a language the restaurant’s devotees have obviously not studied—crappy food. Like other fast food enterprises, Chick-fil-A represents all that is wrong with American food culture, from its 550-calorie, 78-grams of sugar-poisoned chocolate milkshake to its Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit with 45 grams of fat and 1,420 milligrams of salt. What’s more, beyond Chic-fil-A’s supposed “healthy” choices like its Southwest Chargrilled Salad, which by the way, includes monosodium glutamate, sulfite preservatives, and various anti-caking agents, you’ve got to wonder how the company can claim it encourages its customers “to stay fit and healthy by eating a well balanced diet. . . .”
