Young Eagles Day Launches October 6th

Wed Oct 03, 2012 | 10:13am

Expect to see over eighty youth, ages eight to seventeen from charitable organizations throughout Santa Barbara County, take flight behind the controls of an airplane.

The morning will begin with a flight briefing and a lesson in aerodynamics followed by

a Young Eagle’s first flight. The youth are allowed to fly as much as they want (excluding take off and landing.) The new aviators will be given pilot logbooks and a certificate for ground school, (donated by Sporty’s Pilot Shop.) The pilots of EAA Chapters 527 and 491 donate their time, planes, and money in order to give these Young Eagles a view of the world they have never seen before.

For aviation enthusiasts it will be a unique display of aircraft. Piper Arrows, Cessna 140’s, Piper Cubs and Aeroncas will fill the sky as youth go up with one attitude and come down with another.

A lunch of hotdogs and hamburgers will be served thanks to the generous donation of American Charities.

Participating non-profit organizations this year are: A Different Point of View, American Charities, CADA-Youth Services (Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse), Daniel Bryant Treatment Center .
