Suspicious Questions

When is a “poll” really a political attack?

Perhaps when it is commissioned to produce an adverse hit on an opponent.

The fanfare over Maldonado’s results are open to serious question. Here’s why: I received two of these phone calls: one in August, one this month. The first call began with an unfavorable question in the form of a statement about Maldonado’s tax issues; all his others were favorable. In contrast, 29 of the 34 Capps question-statements were negative. The remaining five I found a bit unclear, but not Capps-friendly.Each of the questions was followed by a “Would you support or reject” intensity scale.

The second call followed the same format, concluding with a “Who will you support?” finale. I’m very familiar with Capps’s record and think that she has done a remarkably good job under difficult circumstances. Maldonado’s shadowy support groups should ‘fess up and make public all the loaded questions.
