A Taste for Carpinteria Chili Challenge

Wed Oct 17, 2012 | 01:41pm

Put your cowboy boots on and get your taste buds ready for the first ever Girls Inc. of Carpinteria Chili Challenge. A Taste for Carpinteria will bring the community together for a boot-stomping benefit to support Girls Inc., an organization committed to providing vital resources for local girls and young women.

Chili Cook-off contestants will go head to head to create the “tastiest” chili as decided by judges and the crowd. Attendees will kick up their heels to the tunes of The Dusty Jugz band, sponsored by Mission Linen and learn line dancing with Beth Schmohr. Silent and live auctions will feature spectacular items to please every cowboy or cowgirl. The Taste saloon will quench parched cowpokes with Island Brewing beer, wine and tequila tasting by Carreta De Oro.

Girls Incorporated is a nonprofit organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. We provide programs for girls 5 to 18 years old that focus on science, math, and technology; health; financial literacy; sports skills; leadership and advocacy; and media literacy. All programs provide girls with the resources, structure and assistance needed to succeed in middle school and high school and move on to a career, college or university.
