The latest fad in footwear has finally found its way to Santa Barbara County: Nufoot. Touted as an alternative to socks, the lightweight, water-resistant foot covers are made from neoprene, allowing them to be worn in puddle-forming places like the kitchen and gym showers. Snug and protective, they are machine-washable and have tread that keeps them from skidding. For women, products come in Mary Jane style; for men, booties. Both have myriad colors and prints to choose from. You might not see these on the catwalk, but they’re perfect for everyday around-the-house use. Nufoot can be found at La Gioconda Gifts & Designs (1529 Mission Dr., Solvang; 688-5040) or online at nufoot.com.
