The Event is one of Two Sheriff’s Coffee Gatherings on Tuesday

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office this year began holding “Coffee with a Cop” gatherings in the communities of Carpinteria and Goleta. Next Tuesday, October 15, the Sheriff’s Office will have its first ever “Coffee with a Cop” event in Isla Vista at the Starbucks located at 888 Embarcadero Del Norte from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The gathering is a great opportunity for Isla Vista residents, many of whom are college students, to get to know Sheriff’s Deputies that work in their neighborhoods and to meet the new Isla Vista Foot Patrol Lieutenant Rob Plastino.

Lt. Plastino, who has been with the Sheriff’s Office for 15 years, believes the event is a great way to help build positive relationships in the unique community he serves. He said, “I’m looking forward to meeting many of our student, business, and permanent residents at this event. The Isla Vista Foot Patrol really is a community focused and approachable law enforcement effort and “Coffee with a Cop” fits in perfectly with our community policing philosophy.”

Earlier that same day, October 15, the Sheriff’s Office will hold a “Coffee with a Cop” event in Carpinteria from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Starbucks located at 5436 Carpinteria Avenue. Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Coastal Patrol Bureau will be on hand to talk to citizens and answer any questions or concerns they have or to simply chat over a cup of coffee.

We hope to see as many members of the public at one of these “Coffee with a Cop” events next week.
