Fundraising Transparency in 2nd District Race

Sat Feb 15, 2014 | 12:00am

Your piece of February 6 regarding campaign funds raised by Supervisor Janet Wolf and Goleta Councilmember Roger Aceves doesn’t really tell the voters where the money from each of the candidates is coming from. I hope you will dig further and reveal the larger story. While Mr. Aceves raised $118,927, more than 60 percent came from oil and developer interests. The $109,069.26 Janet Wolf raised in 2013 reflect contributions from over 240 individual donors, reflecting her broad base of support throughout the community. It’s important that voters know about the contribution sources as well as the totals in order to reveal what could be underlying motives for shifting the balance on the board. Please name the large contributions for more transparency.
