The Santa Barbara Public Library System and the Library Board invite the community to a presentation on the state of the Library on Monday, April 21 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of Santa Barbara City Hall, 735 Anacapa St.
Library Director Irene Macias will make a presentation about the Library System, including the proposed budget for the City Libraries for fiscal year 2014-2015, highlights from the current year, and an overview of upcoming projects. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and comment on the proposed budget and related topics.
The Santa Barbara Public Library System comprises two City libraries and six branch libraries operated through contracts with the County of Santa Barbara and the City of Goleta. The Library Board is a charter commission of the City of Santa Barbara, consisting of five members appointed by the City Council. It is charged with such duties as making recommendations to the City Council on policy concerning operations of the libraries; on rules, regulations, and bylaws for the libraries; on the proposed annual budget for Library operations; and on acquisitions, disposition, availability and use of collection materials.
