In the House of the NRA

Once again, there has been a public shooting, this time at a Mississippi University, but so what? Does anyone really expect the killings to stop? The 23rd Psalm is one of the most beautiful, inspiring, and comforting passages in the entire bible, but when it comes to gun control in this country, some senators and congressional representatives have chosen instead to follow a different version and a different God to suit their own needs, not those of the American people:

Corporate contributions are my survival; I shall not want.

They helpeth me to lie down in greener pastures: they leadeth me beside a still conscience.

They restoreth my campaign coffers: they leadeth me in the paths of unrighteousness for corporate profits’ sake.

Yea, though I walk through the tally of the tragedy of needless death, I will take no responsibility: for the gun manufacturers art with me; their lobbyist staff they comfort me.

They preparest a bankroll before me in the presence of my political enemies: they anointest my head with soil; my war chest runneth over.

Surely, then, sorrow and regret shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the NRA forever.

My fellow Americans, we can do better!
