During a prayer breakfast last February, President Barack Hussein Obama was quoted as saying, “Lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place — remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition terrible deeds were committed in the name of Christ.” (He also added “our country,” stating slavery “was all too justified in the name of Christ.”)
Apparently he’s forgiven the Catholic leaders of the Crusade and the Inquisition. Today he welcomed Pope Francis, applauded the pope’s stance on global warming and said absolutely nothing about the slavery that occurred during the Spanish colonization under future saint Junipero Serra.
This hypocrisy is all too common in our country, where our leaders are far too comfortable getting on their high horse to take selfies with the latest in the line of VIPs. I believe we grown to be culturally accustomed to such nonsense. In fact the President’s contradictory opinion will be forgotten in a week or so, after the next string of political rabble occurs.
Watching such shenanigans, I come to completely understand why voter turnout is so low. We’re not playing politics! We’re watching Celebrity Apprentice!
