Hiroshima Visit

Wed Jun 01, 2016 | 12:00am

I was pleased to hear that President Obama might visit Hiroshima and even more pleased when that visit became a reality.

As the country with the largest nuclear arsenal and the only country to ever use a nuclear weapon, the U.S. needs leaders who understand the enormous destruction nuclear weapons can cause. President Obama is not the first president to call for nuclear disarmament: As President Reagan said, “Our moral imperative is to work with all our powers for that day when the children of the world grow up without the fear of nuclear war.”

I hope my senators, Boxer and Feinstein, will speak out in support of President Obama’s visit, as well as his message.
