I am writing in response to your short article on work camps for Mexican citizens. I must observe how imperative it is for the United States as a nation to be mindful, observant, and vigilant in its care and protection of everyone in need, including immigrants or those seeking temporary asylum or work. Every rightful human endeavor is done openly, honestly with respect to rights and proper place of each person, who must be as accounted for and part of the community as well as country. Limiting Mexican workers access to outside contact with the world, as well as specialized and limited transportation for those who might not even speak English or have contact with family, friends, or recourse to others who know them and care for them, is a dangerous prospect. If these policies include undocumented secretive use of human life and/or exploitation of the hearts and minds of men, women, and children, it must be rejected completely. I do not know the specifics but felt compelled to express my concern as well as observe we must be very aware of the welfare of all our neighbors across borders, walls, barbed wire (which seems unthinkable and must be abolished) and refuse literal or spiritual imprisonment out of doubt, fear, ill will, and greed. Let us choose love, liberty, and honor of each member of the race. Then we all live freely, peacefully together as God intended. There is no other choice.
