The next Blue Whale reading featuring poets Cie Gumucio and Daniel Thomas! Wednesday, January 14, 5:30 pm, Unity of SB Chapel, 227 E. Arrellaga. Hosted by Christine Kravetz and Laure-Anne Bosselaar. Limited open mic follows.
Cie Gumucio is a poet, artist and a teacher. She has designed art installations incorporating poetry, video, and performance. She curated a TEDx event, Rediscovery of the Senses, in Los Angeles. Cie’s solo art exhibit Writers in Search of the Sacred explored the convergence of art, writing and the sacred. Her poems are published in a variety of poetry anthologies. Prior to becoming a Poet/Teacher with CalPoets in the Schools, she won awards for writing in the film and television industry.
Daniel Thomas’s third poetry collection, River of Light, was published by Shanti Arts in 2025. His previous books are Leaving the Base Camp at Dawn and Deep Pockets. He has published poems in many journals, including Southern Poetry Review, Nimrod, Poetry Ireland Review, Amethyst Review, Vita Poetica, Atlanta Review, and others.
