Bonsai Club of Santa Barbara Hosts 49th Annual Show & Sale at Montecito Union School
Beautiful Trees, Live Demonstrations & Hands-On Learning May 16-17
The Bonsai Club of Santa Barbara invites you to its 49th Annual Bonsai Show & Sale on Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission is free and open to all who want to explore the world of bonsai. Whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or just curious about this ancient living art form, come and connect with a welcoming community of bonsai lovers to learn, create, or just admire some amazing, centuries old, sculpted trees.
What to Expect at the Show
- A Variety of Bonsai on Display – Trees from distinguished club members showcase the many diverse styles and artistry of bonsai.
- Live Demonstrations by Masters – Renowned bonsai artists Jonas Dupuich and Mel Ikeda, will lead engaging demos each day at 1 PM.
- Bonsai for Every Level – Whether you’re looking for a starter tree or a collector’s specimen, the sales area offers a variety of trees, pots, tools, and rare species, from Club members and vendors.
- Sign up for our Exclusive $50 Beginner Package – Interested in trying bonsai? For just $50, you’ll get a tree, which Club members will help you design at a special workshop, and a discounted club membership for the rest of 2026! Space is limited, sign-up at the Show.
- Lots of Vendors – Mel Ikeda Bonsai and pots, Guy Altshule (Legacy Cork Oaks) Bonsai, Sebastian Fraye (Oak Form Bonsai) Bonsai, Jonas Dupuich Bonsai and Bonsai Tools, Mike Tully Pottery, Robert Potts (Rough Cut Pottery), Tyler Bailey (Bent Wire, Yuuki Ceramics, and Richard Kearney Pottery.

Many people believe bonsai requires endless patience—but that’s a myth! Bonsai can be as simple or as intricate as you want. At the show, you’ll learn how easy it is to get started and can even purchase a finished bonsai ready to take home.
