The Minnesota Orchestra arrives with the confidence of a great American tradition—and the edge of an ensemble that never treats tradition as routine. Founded in 1903 as the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra has earned international admiration through touring, a deep commitment to new music, and a celebrated recording legacy that includes GRAMMY Award‑winning recordings.

On the podium is Danish conductor Thomas Søndergård, the Orchestra’s 11th music director, whose leadership has been praised for galvanizing musicians “to give of their very best.” He brings a musician’s instinct for shape and drama—an ability to make a large ensemble feel both vivid and unified, without sacrificing detail.

Then there is the return of a CAMA favorite: Augustin Hadelich, one of the great violin virtuosi of our time, revered for the rare combination of impeccable technique and unmistakable individuality. Named Musical America’s 2018 “Instrumentalist of the Year,” Hadelich plays the 1744 Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù known as the “Leduc, ex Szeryng,” on loan from the Tarisio Trust. With Søndergård, Hadelich, and the Minnesota Orchestra as partners, expect a night where orchestral color, rhythmic electricity, and soloist charisma meet at full voltage.
