Elizabeth Ann Jungkeit
1933 – 2026
Elizabeth “Liz” Jungkeit (nee Sternberg) was born in Los Angeles, California, on January 11, 1933. Her younger brother, Bill, was born in New York in December 1934. The two shared their early childhood years before the family eventually moved to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
Some of Liz’s happiest childhood memories were summers spent at her grandparents’ lake place, where she loved being on the water and sailing her beloved sailboat. She also cherished visits with her grandparents on Long Island, where their confectionery store brought delicious treats and warm childhood memories.
In 1957, Liz married Burton Lancaster. Together, they built a life and welcomed four children. Kathy and Burt were born in Chicago, and after the family moved to Orange County in 1960, Kim and Chris were born. Her family became an important part of her story and remained central throughout her life.
Liz worked in administration for many years before retiring in 1996. That same year, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she eventually married her soulmate, Don Jungkeit. Liz and Don enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV coach, accompanied by their beloved blonde Cocker Spaniel, Boomer. Together, they shared a life filled with love and adventure.
After Don’s passing in 2005, Liz filled her days by going to the gym, shopping, spending time with close friends and her companion, Gene, and enjoying visits from her children and grandchildren.
A private family service will be held on June 5, 2026, at Santa Barbara Cemetery, where Liz will be interred.
