Edward Benjamin Acquistapace
Edward Benjamin Acquistapace passed away May 4, 2026 at the age of 87, After a long journey with Parkinson’s/Lewy Body Dementia.
Eddie was born to Bernard and Mary (Castagnola) Acquistapace on June 11, 1938 in Santa Barbara, CA. He grew up spending time with his uncles and large Italian family in the place he called God’s Country.
He graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1956. He served in the Army until 1960, stationed in Alaska as a potato peeler (that’s his story and he’s sticking to it).
He married Shari Garland from the Santa Ynez valley in 1962 and they brought 2 children into their lives through adoption before divorcing after 17 years.
He worked fueling airplanes at the Santa Barbara Airport for Lee Gray, and worked for his uncles on their commercial fishing boats based out of Santa Barbara Harbor. He then started working for Gene Campbell driving fuel trucks. He also worked for Bob Voight at the Chevron bulk fuel terminal in Santa Barbara until Bob’s untimely death.
When Tony Pinto bought the terminal and moved everything to Ventura, He spent the rest of his career working for the Pinto family who became his family.
In 2017, his health made it necessary for him to leave his beloved California for the first time since his stint in Alaska. He spent his remaining years in Texas living with his daughter and (favorite) son in law.
He became a lover of Whataburger burgers, Sonic cokes, and Dairy Queen milkshakes. He loved good Texas BBQ, and Blue Bell ice cream.
During his nearly 9 years in Texas, he developed a fondness for the Texas Longhorns (HOOK ‘EM), was a forever fan of the Denver Broncos, and maintained a loathing for the Dallas Cowboys until the end.
He is survived by his son, Dean, of Las Vegas, NV, daughter Lori and her Husband (and favorite son in law) George, of Texas, grandchildren CJ (Caitlin), of Texas, and Jacob and Shelby (Mirzi), of Arizona.
His parents, best friend and favorite uncle, George Castagnola, and other family members, preceded him in death. His brother, Bernard, passed away a few weeks after Eddie’s departure from Earth.
He will be interred next to his Uncle George Castagnola at Calvary Cemetery in California, at a later date.
