Experience Santa Barbara’s past through architecture. Join us in a small group walking tour of the downtown area led by knowledgeable docents of the Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara.
On the Sabado (Saturday) tour, see historic de la Guerra Adobe, El Paseo, Meridian Studios, Lobero Theatre, and much more. Hear the rich history of these buildings and their designers and builders. Celebrate the cultural heritage left by the first Spanish and Mexican settler.
The tour focuses on architectural styles, significant and historic buildings, aesthetics, past and present usage, landscapes, and history. View various architectural traditions and Santa Barbara hallmarks, including ornate tiles, wrought iron detailing, stonework, balconies, arches and lush paintings, and explore hidden courtyards and secret fountains, all at a leisurely pace.
The Sabado Tour departs every Saturday at 10 a.m. and generally finishes by noon. Meet at the City Hall Steps at De la Guerra Plaza. Rain cancels tour. $20 tax-deductible donation/person.
