John Gary Giordano

1934-2026

John passed away peacefully August 9, 2026 at Heritage House after a sudden decline in health.

John was born on 11/16/34 in Chicago Illinois and moved to Santa Barbara in 1955 to marry his first love Shirley. Together they raised two sons until her passing. After 40 years of service, John retired from UCSB.

John married his second love Donna Yamasaki on Nov. 30, 2009 and spent many happy years together. Donna filled John’s life with love and joy. They enjoyed bantering over Packer/Bears football games and bowling in leagues.

John’s family expanded a great deal when he married Donna and he was loved by everyone. He always demonstrated love and patience and taught us all to enjoy life. John always had a positive outlook and a smile to share. We will miss him dearly.

John is survived by his two sons John Jr (Linda) and Jim, his grandson Justin Barrick, and his wife Donna and extended Yamasaki family of 8 kids, 18 grandkids and 19 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life mass will held Monday August 24, 2026 at 11AM at St Raphael’s Catholic Church.
