The Carpinteria Valley Museum of History will host a free Family Day on Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the museum grounds, 956 Maple Ave.
Open to individuals as well as families of all ages, shapes and sizes, Family Day will be filled with hands-on learning and fun! Fifteen interactive stations will include: a new scavenger hunt, flying paper planes, racing wooden cars, floating rain gutter boats, testing spy pens, making coastline-inspired crafts, playing vintage games and learning about Carpinteria’s history through doing and making. All stations, prizes and takeaways are free for attendees.
The Museum is partnering with Carpinteria State Beach and the Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society on Family Day 2026, the third iteration of the event.
Jayme Yahr, the Museum’s Executive Director, is excited to welcome returning and new visitors to the museum explaining that “Family Day is one of the best days of the year. The Museum comes alive, connecting the past with the present through family-oriented stations. Best of all, the event is free and community-focused.
The Museum will have activities for children and adults, some returning and some new stations, and lots of opportunities to hand-test history. I find that adult visitors have just as much fun as the children in attendance. I appreciate our partner organizations and volunteers for helping to make this event a reality.”
