Seattle singer-songwriter and guitarist Dean Johnson blends easygoing twang, sharp humor, and heartfelt storytelling. His new album, I Hope We Can Still Be Friends, brings together songs spanning his years as a songwriter, filled with sardonic social commentary, tales of love and heartbreak, and observations on the absurdity of everyday life. Often compared to John Prine and Kris Kristofferson, Johnson’s intimate sound and affecting voice strike a balance between laughter and melancholy.
