Carol Anders (née Terrell)

Carol Anders (née Terrell) was born in Canistota, South Dakota, on September 7, 1941, and passed away on October 4, 2026. After completing nursing school in the early 1960s, she moved to Santa Barbara, California, and later settled in the Santa Ynez Valley in 1972. She was married to Dean Anders from 1977 until his death in 2015.

Carol was a nurse for more than 40 years and was deeply involved in her community. She served as mayor of Solvang in the early 1990s, as a city councilwoman, and as a member of the Solvang Rotary Club. She also served on the boards of Allan Hancock College, Solvang Theaterfest, Atterdag Village, and numerous other organizations. In addition, she was an active volunteer at Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Michael Kington; her children, Gina Cordero (Pete Chiapella), Aaron Cordero (Becky), and Bruce Anders (Natalie); her sisters, Penny and Paula (Charlie); her nieces and nephews; and her six grandchildren, Emma, Andrew, Emily, Erin, Kelsey, and Olivia.

Services will be held at St. Marks-in-the-Valley, Los Olivos at 11:00am on Friday, October 23, 2026.
