Joseph Michael Buchanan
Joseph Michael Buchanan, born May 2, 1956, in Inglewood, California, passed away peacefully at home on November 4, 2026 after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Joe proudly served his country for 37 years, retiring from the military in 2016 after a long and distinguished career. His greatest joy, however, was coaching and practicing with his sons, Tyler and Jake, through their seasons of baseball, football, and basketball. He also cherished the camaraderie of playing softball with the DA team and later with the Senior Softball league at Elings Park. He especially appreciated the annual basketball game and BBQ with his Bishop Diego High School Class of 1974.
He will be remembered for his deep love of family and his steadfast dedication to service.
Joe is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen Martin Buchanan; his sons, Tyler and Jake Buchanan; sisters-in-law Jennifer (Brian) Boisky and Alana McClellan; nieces Alyssa (Patrick) Lewis, Emily (Arthur) Welchman, and Holly Highfill; nephews Jeffrey (Alia) Moorhouse and Jaimeson Highfill; and his adored grandnieces and grandnephew: Willa and Rowan White, and Mila, Remi, and Indie Moorhouse.
Joe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
In honoring Joe’s wishes, services will be private.
