Permit burning within State Responsibility Areas (SRA) and Local Responsibility Areas (LRA) within the jurisdiction of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department are still in effect. Please note: These permits are issued for burn piles only and are not intended for the burning of standing vegetation.
As daylight savings time approaches on March 11th, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department wants to remind residents to make another change that could save their lives – changing the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
Transitions-Mental Health Association’s (TMHA) Growing Grounds Farm in Santa Maria has received a $25,000 grant from the Wood-Claeyssens Foundation. This grant will support vocational and horticultural therapy provided by the Farm to people who have a mental illness.
