An evening service intended for rest and contemplation, this is the first compline service of the new season.

Compline is led by the Rev. Sarah Thomas. It begins with synthesized ambient music by DJ artist, Andrew Elia, then a transition with loose-leaf brewed herbal tea, and concludes with the opportunity to hear a person share a personal story.

This month’s storyteller is Hope Silver (Nadezhda Serebrennikova). Hope is a Russian-American writer, blogger, screenwriter, and filmmaker based in California. A former journalist, she draws on her immigrant experience, humor, and love of storytelling to connect cultures and to highlight personal growth. Her short documentary Hope is on the Way — inspired by her experiences meeting people as an Uber driver — premiered in 2025 and has been selected by multiple international and U.S. film festivals.

Incense and candlelight are used during the service. Trinity is an LGBTQ+ welcoming and affirming congregation.  www.trinitysb.org/compline
