An evening service intended for rest and contemplation. Compline is led by the Rev. Sarah Thomas. It begins with synthesized ambient music by DJ artist, Andrew Elia, then a transition with loose-leaf brewed herbal tea, and concludes with the opportunity to hear a person share a personal story.
This month’s storyteller is Shannon Saleh. Shannon has been in Santa Barbara for over 30 years as a teacher and director of musical theater, acting and the arts as well as being involved in the theater and church communities in town. Her most important job to date is being a mom as well as a lifelong learner of all things creative, psychological, literary and spiritual. She has two beautiful daughters who are her favorite people in the world. In addition to her work at San Marcos High School, she enjoys hiking and being surrounded by nature in the mountains and exploring under the sea, traveling to places both familiar and new, and performing in community theater. Shannon’s story explores the theme of God’s creativity and providence in a season of unexpected change and surprising healing.
Incense and candlelight are used during the service. Trinity is an LGBTQ+ welcoming and affirming congregation. www.trinitysb.org/compline
