“Living in Harmony with Nature” is a 90-minute talk and short-film presentation centered on Oriane Livingston’s internationally published novel The Guardians of Earth (Ariane Editions, 2024), described by Barnes & Noble as “an eco-female version of Harry Potter.”
The Guardians of Earth is both a love letter to the planet and a philosophical, cinematic call to environmental stewardship, weaving myth, ecology, consciousness, symbolic language, and Jungian psychology into a story for all ages. The novel follows Oona, an eleven-year-old girl who discovers she can communicate with animals and is called by Eterna — the Spirit of Earth — to help humanity restore its bond with the living planet and with its own inner power.
The presentation includes short cinematic clips adapted from the novel and an exploration of the story’s Three Keys framework:
• The Power Within — cultivating purpose, hope, and self-mastery through meditation and martial arts
• Catch the Birds of Light — awakening vision, imagination and beauty
• The Bridge of Doubts — transforming fear and internal opposition into empowerment
The novel also honors Chumash wisdom through the character Aqiwo, of Chumash descent — one of the Guardians of Earth.
A Q&A session will follow, touching on environmental storytelling, consciousness, and the creative process.
Oriane Livingston is a French-American environmental advocate, two-time traditionally published novelist, filmmaker, speaker (former attorney) whose work explores the intersection of art, science, and consciousness. Livingston’s work has been featured on KGET-TV, New York Weekly, and The American Reporter.
