Noon Concerts at Trinity Santa Barbara presents Folk Bassoon: A Trinity Backstage Retrospective Friday, November 14, 12:15 – 12:45 pm with Kate Wallace, vocals and guitar; Doug Clegg, vocals, guitar, violin & accordion; and Bill Wood, vocals & folk bassoon.

Please join us as we play some hits from the past and some new cover tunes, all with Folk Bassoonist Bill Wood, and two fixtures on the local Santa Barbara music scene, Kate Wallace and Doug Clegg.

Kate Wallace and Doug Clegg, longtime Trinity parishioners, created Trinity Backstage in the early 2000’s.  The series ran from 2003 – 2019. Kate and Doug recruited many of their folk music colleagues from all over America. It was a magical space for some amazing music making over the years. They asked Bill Wood to collaborate on bassoon at a Christmas holiday concert in December, about 2011 or 2012. It was a great success and he appeared on a handful of other Trinity Backstage shows until they ceased in 2019. The musical genre of “folk bassoon” was born, thanks to Kate Wallace who first used the term!

Kate and Doug have appeared on the Noon Concert series since 2019 (minus COVID time, 2020-2021) every November. This November 14 we will reprise all the tunes they performed with Bill Wood on bassoon over the years.

Thanks again for your support. Noon Concerts will be back in 2026!

Noon Concerts at Trinity Santa Barbara began in December 2017 through December 2019 until COVID interrupted in March 2020.  Concerts resumed in April 2022, with a variety of musical styles – jazz, classical, Broadway, popular music. There is always something for everyone during thirty minutes of Midday Musical Magic! Please join us! All are welcome. Admission is free, goodwill tax-deductible donations are accepted at the door. Stay tuned for more information about concerts in October and November 2024, and concerts in 2025.
