The community is invited to experience the incredible sounds of the historic First United Methodist Church pipe organ incomparably played by renown organist Thomas Mellan, in a FREE concert.
The October 12th Organ Interlude will feature Max Reger’s Inferno; Symphonic Fantasy and Fugue in a 30-minute concert at 11 a.m. in the church’s downtown sanctuary.
First United Methodist Church is located at 305 E. Anapamu (corner of Garden St.). Parking is available on site.
The pipe organ at FUMC is considered a premiere instrument in the city of Santa Barbara.
The organ, first installed during construction of the present sanctuary in 1927; has remained in service with upgrades and improvements throughout the years.
The instrument stands today at 52 ranks, totaling over 2,500 pipes, plus three digital pedal stops.
It is the third largest pipe organ in Santa Barbara.
