Please join us for an afternoon of community theater by English Department Arnhold Undergraduate Research Fellows, in a joint event with the Theater and Dance Department’s Student Troupe Teatro Caló, as part of the Global Latinidades Center’s Historias Oral Historiography and Community Theater Project:
Friday, November 21, 2-5pm @ Santa Barbara Contemporary Art Museum
Saturday, November 22, 2-5pm @ Goleta Community Center
Sunday, Nov 23, 2-5pm @ UCSB Theater Courtyard (Theater & Dance Building West).
Throughout the fall, 12 UCSB undergraduate students enrolled in English 106A Playwriting Workshop (collaboratively taught by Ben Olguín, Mayra Gomez-Labrada, Olivia Bievenue, and Carlos Morton) have been conducting interviews with residents of Isla Vista and Goleta that form the bases of 10-minute Actos (short politically-resonant plays adapted from the Teatro Campesino) that feature residents and issues they raised.
We will conduct staged readings, with musical accompaniment by guitarist Luis Moreno and Mariachis Olas de Santa Barbara.
Bring friends, family, and stay for one or all of the performances.
FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
