Iluminando La Noche Free Bike Light Distribution – Goleta

WHAT: MOVE Santa Barbara County is bringing back Iluminando La Noche (Light Up the Night), its popular bicycle light distribution campaign. On Friday, November 7, MOVE will be at Goleta outside the Goleta Community Center (5679 Hollister Ave) handing out hundreds of FREE bicycle lights to cyclists who need them most. MOVE will not only install the lights on the spot but also share quick safety tips and information about Bici Centro, MOVE’s community DIY bike repair shop at 434 Olive Street in Santa Barbara. You must bring your bike to receive a free light set. 

WHY: With the end of daylight savings, mornings and evenings get darker earlier, making safe, visible cycling even more important. For many community members who rely on bicycles for daily transportation, proper lighting is essential. Studies have shown that in accidents involving bicycles after dark, over 80% of those cyclists did not have lights or other safety gear. Our event will help hundreds of cyclists be more visible, especially during the long winter nights.
