Jackson Gillies, singer, songwriter, producer and TEDx speaker will “Return to the Alcazar Theatre” in Carpinteria on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 7 pm. Last year his sold-out Alcazar Theatre concert was also a filming location for a short doc. film (10 min) featuring Jackson created by Positive Exposure in NYC.

On October 24, Jackson returns and once again, Mark Sylvester of Santa Barbara TEDx will kick off the evening to introduce the completed film now being submitted to film festivals and shared at medical conferences, pre-med programs, and universities. The film title is “The Darkness Makes the Light Lighter.”

Rick Guidotti, founder/photographer of PositiveExposure.org shared:

“Jackson’s music reveals his heart and passion, this film reveals his strength and resilience.”

After the short film, Jackson will share his new original music with his band followed by an intermission where you can check out brand new merch with a JAX PLAYS DEAD logo created in chalk by iMadonnari artist Rod Tryon. As a gift to Jax to celebrate the film debut and concert, Rod will create a chalk painting outside the Alcazar Theatre starting at noon on Friday and will most likely take him five hours to complete so stop by and say hello to Rod.

After intermission, JAX PLAYS DEAD, a Jackson Gillies Project, will take the stage with double drummers to share the music of The Grateful Dead! Jaden Lehman, from Lake Worth, Florida, will be playing guitar with JPD. Jaden’s wildly talented and has been a guest on Oteil Burbridge’s album (Dead & Co. and Allman Brothers Band)  and Oteil on Jaden’s album. He most recently was on tour with Melody Trucks & The Fritzkes. David McInnes who also played on Jaden’s album and a longtime friend of JPD, will be on drums along with Sasha Cohen. Others players from the original set and JPD include Toby Still, Sky Ulep, Jules Sherman, Nate Grotenhuis, Ben Congdon, and Jackson Gillies.

Tickets are available at thealcazar.org and are $15 pre-sale $20 at the door and $30 VIP

We recommend buying tickets in advance as last year’s show was sold out.
